Die farbigen Illustrationen stehen im Zentrum, ergänzen und erweitern die Geschichte, erzählen aber auch Unausgesprochenes. Pauls Gesichtsausdruck beispielsweise ist jeweils deutlich gezeichnet, doch die emotionale Wirkung bleibt offen. Ab Kindergartenalter ist das Buch zum Erzählen und Immer - Wieder - Anschauen sehr zu empfehlen.
