Tiny is asked several times throughout the book ‘are a boy or a girl?’, but doesn’t answer until the last page when Tiny says ‘I am me!’. This story shows a child who is interested in a variety of pursuits and is not restricted by gender expectations. However, most of the supporting characters are shown in gender-stereotyped activities and clothing."
